Northern Ireland Council for Voluntary Action (NICVA)

The Northern Ireland Council for Voluntary Action, (NICVA)is the umbrella body for voluntary organisations in Northern Ireland, with sister councils in:
  • England - The National Council for Voluntary Organisations (NCVO)
  • Scotland - Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations (SCVO)
  • Wales - Wales Council for Voluntary Action (WCVA)
NICVA is the umbrella body for voluntary, community and charitable groups in Northern Ireland, providing 1150 affiliated members with information, advice and training on a wide range of issues from management consultancy and finance, through to policy development and lobbying.

NICVA adopts a community development approach, attempting to empower local communities to pursue their own needs and agendas.

NICVA believes that the voluntary sector can play a critical role in developing a democratic and pluralist society, bridging traditional divisions and building a broader consensus for the future.
