Energywatch
Energywatch is the independent gas and electricity consumer watchdog. We are here to help you with whatever consumer issue you have regarding the gas and electricity industry. We can help you if you need information and advice about gas and electricity at home or in your business. We can help you if you have a complaint about an energy company. We also campaign to help you get value for money and a better standard of service from energy companies. We try to make sure that everything we do is focused on the issues that matter to consumers. By talking and listening to consumers every day, we use your experiences to shape the work we do. Energywatch was set up by the Utilities Act (2000) to be an advocate for consumers in the gas and electricity markets. We receive a grant from the Department of Trade and Industry which is derived from the licence fee that energy companies have to pay to the government. This makes energywatch accountable to the DTI for the work we do and the money we spend on your behalf. We are completely separate from Ofgem, the gas and electricity regulator. However, the two organisations work closely together to promote the interests of consumers. The relationship with Ofgem is set out in our Memorandum of Understanding. We're Here to Help You The energywatch website is designed to guide you through the energy maze. So whether you need more information, want to make a complaint or would like a question answered, this is the place to be.
