Mental Health | CONTACT - A Directory for Mental Health

Knowledge is empowerment. One of the great tragedies of psychological disturbance and distress is the way in which it renders people vulnerable and distressed. It is precisely then that we, and those involved in caring for us, are most in need of a ready access to information. Sadly, however, one of the commonest complaints voiced in the whole area of mental health care is that it is very difficult indeed to find out what kind of treatments and support services are available, particularly when you most need them. Quote - Dr. Anthony Clare.

The Contact Directory, updated in the year 2001, meets this need most impressively. At its heart is the belief, which needs to be stated again and again, that the individual who has a mental health problem has the same basic needs as anyone else including having enough money to live on, decent housing, employment, a network of relationships and a reasonable quality of life. In addition, such a person needs access to appropriate professional assessment and treatment. Contained within these pages is a storehouse of relevant and readable information.
