HM Forces Discount Railcard
Introduction
The Forces Railcard is a concession provided by the Train Companies under the administration of the ATOC. The purchase of a Railcard entitles users to discount travel on rail journeys throughout the UK. The Railcard currently costs £15 each and is valid for one year.
Eligibility
The following are eligible to be issued with a Forces Railcard:

All members of the Regular forces (including university, medical and dental cadets) wherever they are stationed; Members of the Brigade of Ghurkhas based in the UK; R IRISH (HSFT) personnel; TA Non-Regular Permanent Staff; Commissioned officers of the RAF Reserve carrying out full time duties in uniform in peacetime, members of the Reserve Forces undertaking a period of Full-Time Reserve Service (FTRS); HM Reserve Forces personnel who are called out for a period of permanent service of at least three months on broadly the same terms and conditions of service as Regular Forces; NATO personnel serving in official NATO UK appointments or in other NATO posts based within the UK; Members of other Government Defence Forces serving in official exchange appointments.

Spouses of all personnel above who are in Marital Category/Personal Status Category(PStatCat) 1, including civil partners of those eligible Service personnel who have registered a civil partnership.

Dependant children as follows;

Unmarried children (including legitimate, adopted and step-children) over the age of 16 years and under the age of 18 years who are normally resident in the household.

A son or daughter of 18 years and over, certified by a medical authority to be suffering from a physical or mental infirmity, who is normally resident in the household.

A son or daughter over 18 years of age who, for compassionate reasons, is acting as the housekeeper within the household.

A son or daughter over the age of 18 but under the age of 25 who is normally resident in the household and in full time education.

This concession is not available to other dependants holding a Railcard.
Applications
Application forms may be obtained from Unit Admin Offices. A 41mm x 50mm photograph is required for a Railcard.
Losses
If you lose your Rail Card you are to report the matter immediately to your administering unit. Loss or misuse may lead to disciplinary action being taken.
Misuse
If you do not abide by the conditions of issue of your Rail Card you are liable to have the card withdrawn. Fraudulent misuse may result in action being taken. Cards that become defaced, damaged, mutilated, torn or altered in any way will no longer be valid.
