Child Abuse

http://www.childline.org.uk/ ChildLine has now helped more than one million children.
ChildLine, the free national helpline for children in trouble or danger, has counselled its millionth child. This landmark means that since the charity's launch in October 1986, more than one million children have reached the comfort, advice and protection offered by ChildLine's trained volunteer counsellors.

There is a lot of information around on all kinds of subjects. But sometimes it can be hard to find. That's why ChildLine has produced short, snappy factsheets about a whole range of issues, from bullying to eating problems, to racism. So if you need facts and figures for a school project, or if you are worried or concerned about an issue and want some information or advice, look at ChildLine factsheets available from:

National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC)

http://www.nspcc.org.uk/homepage/ NSPCC Full Stop Campaign
The aim of the FULL STOP Campaign is to end cruelty to children. FULL STOP. To succeed in this great challenge, the NSPCC has developed five action programmes. Together, these involve a wide range of innovatory activities to prevent abuse and change attitudes towards children.

NSPCC Advice for Parents and Carers
The aim of the NSPCC FULL STOP Campaign is to end all forms of cruelty to children. As part of our work to achieve this goal, we produce a range of advice leaflets on sexual abuse. Designed to help parents tackle this difficult subject, they include simple, clear information on the different situations in which abuse can occur; positive steps that parents can take to protect their children, and how to identify and deal with abuse if it occurs.

What To Do If You´re Worried A Child Is Being Abused
every child matters What To Do If You´re Worried A Child Is Being Abused is a key document that reinforces the message that safeguarding children is everyone´s responsibility. Everyone who comes into contact with children and families in their everyday work, including practitioners and their managers, has a duty to safeguard and promote the welfare of children. This practice guidance has been republished to take account of updated guidance published in Working Together to Safeguard Children (2006) . What To Do If… sets out the processes and procedures for reporting concerns about a child who is, or may be at risk from, abuse and also includes guidance on information sharing arrangements. It does not introduce any new procedures or systems for practitioners nor does it announce any changes to the Government´s policy for safeguarding children. In line with previous editions, What To Do If… has been published in a main and a summary document format.
