Royal Air Force Community Support Concept
For RAF personnel to be fully effective in their duties it is essential that their well being and that of their dependants is properly cared for. The RAF aims to deliver comprehensive community support to the Service, its reserve forces, their dependant communities, and where appropriate RAF veterans, incorporating access to a full social welfare service. The RAF Community Support concept does not extend to cover welfare provision on operations or the Operational Welfare Package, which are responsibilities of the MOD and the front line commands.

RAF Community Support (RAF C Spt) provides policy, advice and assistance to all HQ staffs and RAF units in developing the RAF C Spt concept to meet local requirements. The Team is also tasked with identifying best C Spt practices across the RAF to help inform the development of single and tri-Service welfare and C Spt policy.

The Aims and Objectives of Community Support:
  • Build a healthy community.
  • Develop Royal Air Force Community Support to meet the needs of the community.
  • Foster Royal Air Force Community and Families association.
  • Facilitate an active collaboration between senior Royal Air Force personnel and key members of the local community, civilian community and local authorities.
  • Develop strong, active community partnerships.
  • Advocate non-violent families and Royal Air Force Communities.
  • Represent the views, needs and aspirations and concerns of all members of the Royal Air Force Community to senior station and command management.
  • Promote a "help-seeking" culture within the local Royal Air Force Community that is based on social inclusion.
