Service Voting - Your Choice
All personnel are reminded that they must be on the electoral register if they wish to vote. Even if no scheduled election is imminent, personnel are encouraged to register to vote and, once registered, to renew their registration - annually for ordinary voters and every three years for Service Voters - as a by-election or snap general election can be called at any time.

The annual canvass of ordinary voters takes place each Autumn. Each household in the UK will receive a form, but if you have not received anything by mid-October, contact the local authority with whom you are registered. If you are registered as a Service Voter a re-registration form will be sent to your last recorded address 3 months before your registration is due to expire. If you are not presently registered, you do not have to wait for the annual canvass but can register at anytime.

You can register to vote as a Service Voter, ordinary voter or Overseas Voter. In addition, the Electoral Commission has produced a leaflet and Service Voter registration form explaining how Service personnel, their spouses and civil partners can register as Service Voters download Register to Vote.

Additional Information: (pdf format 850KB)

You can find contact details of local authority's electoral registration office and more information about registering to vote at the Electoral Commission's website www.aboutmyvote.co.uk .
